Toys

The festive period is hurtling toward us, and so is the yearly question of what to get for the kids. The market for kids toys is controlled by out of town toy sheds that offer near wholesale prices to consumers. It?s definately a far cry from the charming traditional toy shops found on the high street 50 years ago and so is the volume of toys on sale.

The vast majority of today?s toy output is from the industrial powerhouse of China. Thousands of toy manufacturers sprung up overnight producing cheap plastic toys for a cost conscious consumer. Many major manufactures moved their entire production lines to Chinese factories because of the price advantage of China. In 2007 Mattel was forced to recall several million toys because quality control is not tightly enough controlled. Recently, due to safety questions regarding some products, the children?s toy market has turned towards more traditional toys. More people are seeking out quality wooden toys and the increase in the amount of independent toy stores is a direct result. Wooden toys are growing in popularity with parents because of their sturdiness, high quality and advantage to the environment. The traditional wooden toy may prove to be more resilient to an economic downturn as the current climate is causing many manufactures serious headaches. In addition to years of service providing an excellent value for the money, parents will appreciate the fact that they are buying a well made toy for their child.

This holiday season is a great chance for you to ditch the superstore full of plastic toys and test out a local toy store to find a quality toy item that will both entertain your kids as well as you, by the true value in what you get for your money
